Hi Everyone!
This update is to alert you of two changes that will be taking part in regards to our rules on character ageing, and activity checks. However, there have also been numerous smaller changes also to the site rules overall, which are listed in brief here
First and foremost, the conditions around activity checks and what happens when they are first missed has changed. After reflecting on our current process and the amount of inactive characters that sit for a month and rarely ever get touched again, we have made the decision to change the rules so the first stage, where only adopted characters were tired will now be removed, and the second stage taking it’s place, meaning missing an activity check will have all character retired. However, to compensate slightly for this heavier weighting, activity checks will run from the 23rd to the 30th of each month, giving people a bit more time to respond than our typical checks.
The full details can be found in the site rules.
Secondly, our ageing system has changed. Due to absences, and life, the time between gatherings has ended up being a lot longer than was original anticipated. So, we have made the decision to change it from ageing at each gathering, to instead be every character will age every two real life months. Everyone will have a two week grace period to update their character’s ages in, and finish off any threads that are crucial to that age bracket, before things jump up. You’ll all be responsible for updating the age of your own characters, and can take this as a time to revisit and make any changes or addition to characters that you feel needs to be done. At the end of the two weeks, staff will check to make sure all characters have been aged, and will address any that have not been.
Now, because that would make things... ridiculously long in a rank like a kit or an apprentice for some people, we will be enacting a system for kits and apprentices that as long as all siblings and parents agree, the family can be shifted up a moon. There will be a limit of only two age ups within a period being allow, so say, two as a kit, two as an apprentice. This is only be available for kits, apprentices and any warriors that would be affected by the younger ranks, not for general warriors, however, as it is less of an issue that their age changes, unless it is crucial for it to be done as part of a family deal, but that can be discussed when the time arises.
Now, on top of all that, we have decided to pull down the age an apprentice can become a warrior to ten moons. This means, if a cat of ten or eleven moons wants to become a warrior, you’ll need to talk to your clan leader and organise it, with them automatically arranged for reaching their warrior name at twelve moons. Alternatives will still need to be discussed with the clan’s leader.
THIS ALL TOGETHER WILL MEAN, apprentice to warrior as a stage, at it's slowest would take a year real-time, 6-12 moons without time skips. However, at it's quickest, can take four-five months, 6-10 moons with two time skips. The same would go with kits born in roleplay, at slowest it would be 8 months to become apprentices, with skips it would be 4 months. We’re hoping that this way, for roleplayers with other responsibilities and who are slower at posting, they will have time to develop their characters at slow speed, while those who post quicker and wish for faster progression can go at more of a suitable speed for their style.
While it will lead to some timeline discrepancies, they aren't giant ones, and it will be enforced that family needs to stay together on the timeline, even if apprentice siblings become warriors at different times, they would need to remain the same age. We’re hoping that this system will make things overall, a bit better for encouraging the site to progress forward in time.
The explanation of this system and how to apply for a time skip can be found here.
If you have any questions about how these changes will work, feel free to PM alee and myself, and we’ll try and clear up any misunderstandings that we can.
